We-Vibe Verge We Vibe Verge is the slightly more expensive and slightly longer cousin to the Pivot. It shares the same functionality as the Pivot, with 10 analog presets and access to the same We-Vibe App.

Where they differ is in their shape. The Verge’s vibrating motor is long and oriented under the ring. The ring is much, much more rigid than all of its cheaper alternatives—frankly, it’s pretty frustrating. This makes the sizing less inclusive and takes away options — for example, it may hard to fit one’s scrotum in the ring. We found the strength of the vibrations to be a bit weak given the price, though this could be mostly due to the ring not fitting.

After 10 minutes of continuous use, it didn’t get too hot—just 86.9 degrees. In our lab tests, it excelled in two areas. It was the quietest cock ring we tested, coming in at 49.8 dBA, and it had the longest battery life, running over 88 minutes on a single charge.

Ultimately, the Verge doesn’t offer much that other Bluetooth-capable cock rings offer in better forms.

The ring itself is comfortable and easily stretches while still providing a decent amount or resistance. The material is smooth and soft. Beyond feeling great, the sleek design of the Band makes it the most aesthetically pleasing cock ring we’ve tried. It even comes with a carrying case to match.

The Band comes with five vibration settings, which are steady vibrations of increasing speed. We love how intense the highest setting is, but it’s a bit on the noisier side. Our labs only clocked it around 51.5 dBA (quieter than the Lovense), but at home, it sounded much louder. We also wish it came with pattern vibrations.

While this setting feels great, we can’t help but wish the Nōs also came with pattern vibrations for variety.

Avoid Screaming O Ohare On paper, the O’Hare should be the best of the budget vibrating cock ring by a considerable margin.

It’s powered by three replaceable LR44 batteries and the package comes with six total. These batteries power a surprising number of vibration options for its price—three steady vibrations of succeeding intensities and a series of patterns. We definitely appreciate the wider variety.

Where the O’Hare truly shines is in its design. Unlike all other cock rings we’ve tested, the O’Hare has two elastic bands—a wider band for your balls and a smaller one for your penis. It’s by far the best-feeling cock ring of the bunch, beating out ones that were much more expensive. By testing some of the leading vibrating cock rings, I hope to help those curious about these somewhat niche toys get started.

The Tests

In the Reviewed lab, we tested several attributes of the vibrating cock rings. One of the most important tests we ran analyzed the rings’ frequencies—how powerful an individual ring’s vibration was—by placing a vibration meter along the motor’s surface. This meter measures the size and speed of vibrations along a given surface.

We tested how loud the vibrations were in decibels. We also fully charged each device’s battery (or gave the device fresh batteries if it used replaceable ones) to see how long it ran. To see how waterproof the rings were, we submerged them in water for five minutes while set to their highest speeds. Afterward, we checked to see if they functioned as normal and if any water leaked into the internals of the device. Finally, we ran the vibrators for 10 minutes to see how hot they got.

At home, our testing was decidedly less scientific, but no less rigorous and thoughtful. The tests I ran at home boiled down to the most essential metric when it comes to sex toys—how good they feel. After putting the ring on, I’d have a solo play session and take notes on how the ring felt—how much I could feel the vibrations, how well it fit around my penis, and how easy it was to switch between settings. I also ran the individual rings at their highest settings and placed them at the other end of the room to determine how loud they were.

When it comes to cock rings, Zane says there are three major benefits—pleasure, function, and aesthetic.

“Cock rings, especially vibrating cock rings, feel incredible for both the user and their partner, providing additional stimulation,” Zane said. “Functionally, cock rings can help trap the blood in your penis, helping to keep it continuously erect during sex. If you have a cock ring that also has a ring for your testicles (and pulls the testicles downward), it can help prolong how long it takes to orgasm, making it ideal for men who struggle with premature ejaculation. And aesthetically, cock rings just look cool. They give off a sexy, ‘kinky’ vibe that’s arousing for many folks.”

How do you put on a vibrating cock ring?

Most instructions for the vibrating cock rings we’ve tested tell users to put the ring over the shaft of their penis while it’s soft or semi-hard. We’ve found that you can put on the ring while hard as long as you’re only putting it on your shaft—if you’re putting your balls in the ring too, you’ll need all the space you can get, so you’ll want to put it on while as soft as possible.

Most vibrating cock rings are designed to only hold the penis itself. The motor is typically designed to be worn “up,” pressed against the wearer’s pelvis. This configuration is for couples play, as the motor will press against the clit during penetrative sex this way. If you’re using a cock ring solo, we recommend wearing it upside down so that it stimulates the balls or frenulum.

While the vibrating cock rings are designed to only fit around the penis, we found it to be more pleasurable to squeeze the balls in the ring too. While most of the rings we’ve tested are more than elastic enough to fit them in, this isn’t the case for all of them. You may find it to be uncomfortable.

How do you clean cock rings?

We recommend cleaning your sex toys before storing them away—there are few things quite as gross as reaching into your bag of sex tech goodies and touching greasy, grimy silicone.

“Often, sex toys come with specific instructions for cleaning the toy, especially if it requires some unique type of cleaning for whatever reason,” explains Zane. So your first order of business will usually be to consult the manual.

Most toys can be cleaned by rinsing them in soap and warm water.

“You can also use a toy cleaner, but I think they’re typically unnecessary. Soap and water can do the trick,” Zane said.

How should a cock ring fit?

“You want the Goldilocks of cock rings,” explains Zane. “Snug enough that it will remain on during sex but loose enough that it isn’t painful.”

You should feel some amount of pressure when wearing a cock ring—otherwise, it might be too big. Fortunately, almost all vibrating cock rings are adjustable, meaning they fit penises of many different sizes. If you need a tighter fit, balls can be squeezed in a vibrating cock ring, even if it’s designed to be worn only around the shaft.

Cock rings are to be worn only for around 30 minutes at a time—risk of injury increases if worn significantly longer. Take off a cock ring immediately if numbness, coldness, or discoloration occurs. Cock rings should only be worn by those who can quickly take them on or off alone.

No. “This isn’t true; any person with a penis who wants to have stronger erections or more pleasure during sex can use a cock ring,” explains Zach Zane.
