We-Vibe Verge We Vibe Verge is the slightly more expensive and slightly longer cousin to the Pivot. It shares the same functionality as the Pivot, with 10 analog presets and access to the same We-Vibe App.

Where they differ is in their shape. The Verge’s vibrating motor is long and oriented under the ring. The ring is much, much more rigid than all of its cheaper alternatives—frankly, it’s pretty frustrating. This makes the sizing less inclusive and takes away options — for example, it may hard to fit one’s scrotum in the ring. We found the strength of the vibrations to be a bit weak given the price, though this could be mostly due to the ring not fitting.

After 10 minutes of continuous use, it didn’t get too hot—just 86.9 degrees. In our lab tests, it excelled in two areas. It was the quietest cock ring we tested, coming in at 49.8 dBA, and it had the longest battery life, running over 88 minutes on a single charge.

Ultimately, the Verge doesn’t offer much that other Bluetooth-capable cock rings offer in better forms.

Maude Band The Maude Band is the cheapest cock ring we’ve tested that has a rechargeable battery, which gives it a ton of value.

The ring itself is comfortable and easily stretches while still providing a decent amount or resistance. The material is smooth and soft. Beyond feeling great, the sleek design of the Band makes it the most aesthetically pleasing cock ring we’ve tried. It even comes with a carrying case to match.

The Band comes with five vibration settings, which are steady vibrations of increasing speed. We love how intense the highest setting is, but it’s a bit on the noisier side. Our labs only clocked it around 51.5 dBA (quieter than the Lovense), but at home, it sounded much louder. We also wish it came with pattern vibrations.

It was the second hottest cock ring in our testing, reaching 98.6 degrees after 10 minutes of use. Its battery lasted 46 minutes on a single charge—not impressive, but better than our lowest scorers.

Still, if you’re a bit more serious about cock rings, we recommend checking out the Band over its cheaper alternatives. It’s sturdier than the Big O, so it’s a good option for those who are beginning with cock rings and want something a little more robust than a disposable option.

Fun Factory Nos Fun Factory’s Nōs cock ring distinguishes itself from the competition thanks to its unique shape. There’s a traditional ring on the bottom of the unit and on top, there are two prongs, each containing a motor, which can be moved to pinch and massage the clit. For solo play, the prongs can be pointed downward to better stimulate the wearer’s scrotum or perineum.

The packaging of Nōs makes a lot of hay about the shape of the ring —which has divots designed to press against the shaft—being more pleasurable than rings which are true circles. We didn’t feel much difference.

At the highest setting, the dual motors are a bit noisy without much more power than less expensive alternatives to show for it. The vibrating ring features three steady vibrations and a “Flirt” setting which features a five-minute loop of a steady vibration that changes speed. While this setting feels great, we can’t help but wish the Nōs also came with pattern vibrations for variety.

The packaging comes with two activity checklists where you and your partner can compare and contrast activities you want to do with Nōs. It’s a touch that makes the experience feel more personable. Is it a touch that justifies Nōs being $40 more than its peers? For our money, we say no.

The Nōs heated to 85.8 degrees and hit a max dBA of 51.6 (about the sound of a standard fridge). Its battery life was pretty impressive—it ran for 80 minutes on a single charge.

Trojan Tandem Couples Vibrating Ring Trojan is the brand you think of when you hear the word “condom”—unfortunately, the result of their foray into sex tech is as disposable as their more famous offerings. We’re all about saving here at Reviewed, but you really do get what you pay for with Trojan’s Tandem Couples Vibrating Ring.

The Trojan Tandem feels weightless and there is very little resistance to the ring’s elasticity. While it’s meant to fit only over your shaft, it can easily accommodate balls too and we had to fit both in to get even a bit of sensation from it. While the bottom of the ring has a ribbed tab “to stimulate him” by pressing against the balls, we got nothing from it during solo play.

Trojan’s cock ring only comes has one setting:a moderate, steady vibration. Turing the vibration on and off is simple, yet annoying—pressing the button slightly will activate the vibration, but it will only stay on if you press it enough that you hear a “click.”

The batteries cannot be replaced, meaning it’s only good for maybe one session before you have to throw the entire ring away. It only lasted 48 minutes when we ran it.

Ultimately, there really isn’t anything Trojan’s ring does particularly well. It functions, sure, but you can do a lot better.

Avoid Screaming O Ohare On paper, the O’Hare should be the best of the budget vibrating cock ring by a considerable margin.

It’s powered by three replaceable LR44 batteries and the package comes with six total. These batteries power a surprising number of vibration options for its price—three steady vibrations of succeeding intensities and a series of patterns. We definitely appreciate the wider variety.

Where the O’Hare truly shines is in its design. Unlike all other cock rings we’ve tested, the O’Hare has two elastic bands—a wider band for your balls and a smaller one for your penis. It’s by far the best-feeling cock ring of the bunch, beating out ones that were much more expensive. The ring has a pleasurably tight fit and we appreciate the special attention it gives to the balls; some rings on our list don’t fit the balls at all. Plus, it comes with cute bunny ears meant to stimulate a clitoris during couple play.

With all this in mind, it’s unfortunate that the O’Hare ended up being the worst-performing ring of the bunch. Simply put, it just doesn’t work. When we could get it to turn on at all, we were treated to about three minutes of bliss before it would begin shutting off at even the smallest of movements. Eventually, it stopped turning on at all. While we love the form, we wish the function matched.

  • Many presets for its price
  • Amazing feel
  • Comes with extra batteries

  • Does not work

The Tester

I’m a sex-positive Reviewed staff member who has over two years of experience with sex toys. I’m always looking for ways to enhance and highlight experiences in the bedroom, whether solo or with a partner. I’ve been fascinated by cock rings for some time, so I jumped at the chance to get to try out vibrating cock rings. By testing some of the leading vibrating cock rings, I hope to help those curious about these somewhat niche toys get started.

The Tests

Credit: Reviewed / Timothy Renzi From sound volume to waterproofing, we took our cock ring testing seriously.

In the Reviewed lab, we tested several attributes of the vibrating cock rings. One of the most important tests we ran analyzed the rings’ frequencies—how powerful an individual ring’s vibration was—by placing a vibration meter along the motor’s surface. This meter measures the size and speed of vibrations along a given surface.

We tested how loud the vibrations were in decibels. We also fully charged each device’s battery (or gave the device fresh batteries if it used replaceable ones) to see how long it ran. To see how waterproof the rings were, we submerged them in water for five minutes while set to their highest speeds. Afterward, we checked to see if they functioned as normal and if any water leaked into the internals of the device. Finally, we ran the vibrators for 10 minutes to see how hot they got.

At home, our testing was decidedly less scientific, but no less rigorous and thoughtful. The tests I ran at home boiled down to the most essential metric when it comes to sex toys—how good they feel. After putting the ring on, I’d have a solo play session and take notes on how the ring felt—how much I could feel the vibrations, how well it fit around my penis, and how easy it was to switch between settings. I also ran the individual rings at their highest settings and placed them at the other end of the room to determine how loud they were.

What are cock rings?

Credit: Reviewed / Timothy Renzi Think of cock rings as an additional “sex-cessory,” so to speak, that’ll increase pleasure and target those sensitive areas.

Cock rings are rings designed to go around the base of a penis. They’re worn for both aesthetic purposes and to enhance the sensation and longevity of an erection by slowing blood flow away from the penis. Most are a single ring while some feature two rings for the wearer to put their balls in. Cock rings can be made several different materials including metal, rubber, and silicone.

Vibrating cock rings are, as the name suggests, cock rings that come with vibrating functionality. All vibrating cock rings are made of soft materials like silicone, meaning that they can be stretched to accommodate penises of different sizes. Vibrating cock rings are typically designed for couples play, but there are some more geared towards solo play. Any vibrating cock ring can be used solo.

What are the benefits of a cock ring?

As part of our research on cock rings, we reached out to sexologist Zach Zane, who’s the editor-in-chief of the sex-focused ‘zine, Boyslut and has had his work published in the New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Washington Post, GQ, and OUT.

When it comes to cock rings, Zane says there are three major benefits—pleasure, function, and aesthetic.

“Cock rings, especially vibrating cock rings, feel incredible for both the user and their partner, providing additional stimulation,” Zane said. “Functionally, cock rings can help trap the blood in your penis, helping to keep it continuously erect during sex. If you have a cock ring that also has a ring for your testicles (and pulls the testicles downward), it can help prolong how long it takes to orgasm, making it ideal for men who struggle with premature ejaculation. And aesthetically, cock rings just look cool. They give off a sexy, ‘kinky’ vibe that’s arousing for many folks.”

When it comes to vibrating cock rings specifically, Zach Zane hihglights a benefit as the added stimulation applied to the various parts of a penis, which can help with erections.

How do you put on a vibrating cock ring?

Credit: Reviewed / Timothy Renzi Many cock rings are easy to put on because they’re stretchy nature and usually made of a flexible material, like silicone or rubber.

Most instructions for the vibrating cock rings we’ve tested tell users to put the ring over the shaft of their penis while it’s soft or semi-hard. We’ve found that you can put on the ring while hard as long as you’re only putting it on your shaft—if you’re putting your balls in the ring too, you’ll need all the space you can get, so you’ll want to put it on while as soft as possible.

Most vibrating cock rings are designed to only hold the penis itself. The motor is typically designed to be worn “up,” pressed against the wearer’s pelvis. This configuration is for couples play, as the motor will press against the clit during penetrative sex this way. If you’re using a cock ring solo, we recommend wearing it upside down so that it stimulates the balls or frenulum.

While the vibrating cock rings are designed to only fit around the penis, we found it to be more pleasurable to squeeze the balls in the ring too. While most of the rings we’ve tested are more than elastic enough to fit them in, this isn’t the case for all of them. You may find it to be uncomfortable.

How do you clean cock rings?

We recommend cleaning your sex toys before storing them away—there are few things quite as gross as reaching into your bag of sex tech goodies and touching greasy, grimy silicone.

“Often, sex toys come with specific instructions for cleaning the toy, especially if it requires some unique type of cleaning for whatever reason,” explains Zane. So your first order of business will usually be to consult the manual.

Most toys can be cleaned by rinsing them in soap and warm water.

“You can also use a toy cleaner, but I think they’re typically unnecessary. Soap and water can do the trick,” Zane said.

How should a cock ring fit?

“You want the Goldilocks of cock rings,” explains Zane. “Snug enough that it will remain on during sex but loose enough that it isn’t painful.”

You should feel some amount of pressure when wearing a cock ring—otherwise, it might be too big. Fortunately, almost all vibrating cock rings are adjustable, meaning they fit penises of many different sizes. If you need a tighter fit, balls can be squeezed in a vibrating cock ring, even if it’s designed to be worn only around the shaft.

Cock rings are to be worn only for around 30 minutes at a time—risk of injury increases if worn significantly longer. Take off a cock ring immediately if numbness, coldness, or discoloration occurs. Cock rings should only be worn by those who can quickly take them on or off alone.

Are cock rings only for those who have ED?

No. “This isn’t true; any person with a penis who wants to have stronger erections or more pleasure during sex can use a cock ring,” explains Zach Zane.
